How FIT4MOM Helped Me Find My Village, My Strength, and Myself

Let’s be honest—motherhood can feel like a complete identity shake-up. One minute you’re navigating your career, your interests, your social life, and the next… you’re knee-deep in diaper blowouts, midnight feedings, and wondering if your name is still anything other than “Mom.” For many women, the challenge isn’t just keeping the kids alive—it’s remembering who you are in the process.

That’s where stories like Kimberly Owensby's come in. Co-owner of FIT4MOM Las Vegas, Kimberly's not your typical mom-next-door (unless your neighbor is a former chef with a punk rock streak and an aversion to anything too “basic”). When she became a mom to her daughter Henrietta and son Axel, her world shifted—and eventually, her sense of self expanded in the most unexpected way.

From “Not My Scene” to “These Are My People”

Kimberly’s FIT4MOM story starts like many do: with a friend who just wouldn’t quit. Her instructor friend invited her to a class again and again until, finally, Kimberly gave in—albeit reluctantly.

“I was not into fitness,” she said. “I wasn’t about to be some suburban mom in Lululemon pushing a stroller around.”

She laughs about it now because what she found at FIT4MOM was nothing like the stereotype she imagined. What she found was connection. She found herself surrounded by women who were just as real, just as raw, and just as deeply in need of community as she was. Turns out, they were her kind of people.

Finding Her “Why”

Kimberly quickly went from member to instructor, tapping into a part of herself she hadn’t fully accessed before. Teaching became more than just a side gig. It became a purpose. A passion. A lifeline.

And when she and her family returned to Las Vegas after considering a move to the Midwest, Kimberly realized she couldn’t leave what she’d found behind—not the sunshine, not the desert landscape, and definitely not her FIT4MOM family. So, when the opportunity arose to co-own the Las Vegas franchise with her friend Karen, it felt like fate.

“There was no hesitation,” Kimberly said. “This community had done so much for me—I wanted to be the one to help keep it strong.”

Real Life, Real Struggles

Owning a business is never easy. Owning a business while parenting two young kids, one of whom has special needs, is a whole different ball game. The same month Kimberly signed the papers to buy the franchise, her son Axel was diagnosed with Autism and Global Delay Disorder.

“I was shattered,” she said, “even though in my gut, I already knew. Suddenly I was a full-time caretaker, teacher, advocate, and still a mom to a toddler.”

That’s when FIT4MOM’s flexibility became a blessing. A traditional 9-5 job? Not in the cards. Not with her husband, Clint, working long hours as a police sergeant and a schedule that could change at any moment. And definitely not with her family’s evolving needs.

“I needed something for me, but something that could also work around them,” she explained.

And FIT4MOM was just that—something she could own, shape, and nurture while also caring for her family.

Building Something Bigger Than Herself

For Kimberly, the fitness part of FIT4MOM is just the surface. The real magic is in the community.

“This community showed up for me when I needed it most,” she shared. “When I was struggling with postpartum depression, when I was dealing with Axel’s diagnosis—these moms were there. No judgment. Just love.”

That’s why she’s so passionate about helping other moms find the same support. Whether it’s through stroller workouts, messy playdates, or vulnerable conversations after class, Kimberly sees every moment as a chance to make another mom feel seen, heard, and valued.

And she’s not alone in this mission. She raves about the broader FIT4MOM franchisee network—a sisterhood of strong, passionate women lifting each other up while juggling business, family, and everything in between.

“I love, love, love the franchisee community,” she said. “The friendships that have formed because of our shared purpose… it’s so empowering.”

Watching the Magic Unfold

Kimberly’s favorite part of her role as a franchise owner? Watching the moms and kids in her village connect and grow together.

“There’s something so special about seeing these little ones form friendships that are going to last for years,” she said. “It gets me every time.”

And it’s not just the kids. The moms grow, too—into stronger, more confident versions of themselves. They show up for each other in big and small ways, from meal trains and late-night check-ins to deep belly laughs at Moms’ Night Out.

Kimberly gets emotional talking about it—and rightfully so. Because what she’s built is more than a business. It’s a lifeline. It’s a chosen family. It’s proof that motherhood doesn’t have to be lonely.

FIT Means Family

If you think FIT4MOM is just a workout group, Kimberly would gently (or not-so-gently) set the record straight.

“The ‘FIT’ in FIT4MOM? That’s just the icing on the cake,” she says. “To me, it now stands for Family In it Together.”

Whether it’s playgroups, book clubs, or those sacred moments after class when a mom shares something real—this village shows up. And Kimberly is honored to lead it.

To the Mom Who’s Searching

If you’re a mom who feels like you’ve lost yourself, like you’re stuck in the endless cycle of nap times and snack refills and wondering where you went—Kimberly’s story is for you.

And if you’ve ever thought about turning your passion into a purpose? She has one thing to say:

“Do it. You won’t regret it. The ability to help other moms while creating a community for them and their kids? That’s everything.”

Because sometimes, the path to reclaiming yourself looks less like a big leap and more like showing up to a stroller workout you swore you’d never try.

And from there? Who knows. You might just find your people. You might just find you again.
